Parent Newsletter 05.03.2021
Dear Parents, After weeks of remote learning, Chalkhill Primary School will reopen to all pupils for onsite teaching on Monday 8th March 2021. The staff are looking forward to welcoming the pupils back and we hope they are excited to return to school!
Well done to all pupils who have accessed remote learning daily, and to the parents who have been supporting their child/ children throughout this period. As of Monday 8th March, attending school will be compulsory and remote learning will cease; however, the pupils will be able to continue using the online platforms to complete homework.
The decision to reopen schools was based on the progress of ‘4 tests’ which will guide the lifting of further lockdown measures. The Government aims for everyone who is 50 and over, or at risk, to have been offered a first dose of the vaccine by 15 April, and for everyone aged 18 and over to have been offered a first dose by 31 July. The 4 tests are as follows:
a. The vaccine deployment programme continues successfully.
b. Evidence shows vaccines are sufficiently effective in reducing hospitalisations and deaths in those vaccinated.
c. Infection rates do not risk a surge in hospitalisations which would put unsustainable pressure on the NHS.
d. Our assessment of the risks is not fundamentally changed by new Variants of Concern.
