Dear Parents, Pupils and Carers,
Yesterday, pupils and staff in every year group performed two songs as part of this year’s virtual Christmas concert. It was lovely to see so many children coming to school wearing festive clothing. They sang beautifully and created a wonderful atmosphere that really brought the Christmas spirit to Chalkhill. Thank you to the staff for decorating the front of the school and for all their hard work during the rehearsal sessions. Thank you to the parents and children for practising the songs at home. Once all performances have been edited and approved, the year group performances will be made available on the Seesaw platform. Please look out for them and we hope you enjoy the performances.
At this time of year, many families send and receive Christmas cards to their friends and relatives to wish them a ‘Merry Christmas’. The tradition of sending Christmas cards started in England in 1843 by Sir Henry Cole who hired a man called John Calcott Horsley to design a card so that he could be send out personal Christmas messages to all his acquaintances. This became the first Christmas card to be ever created.
