    Newsletter 01.10.2020

    Dear Parents, Pupils and Carers,

Last Friday, the school raised a total amount of £470 for Macmillan.  I would like to take this opportunity to thank all parents and pupils for donating money to this important charity.  I would also like to thank the staff for organising tea parties and the cake sale, and a special thank you must go to Chalkhill’s resident star baker, Mrs Whittingham, for working so tirelessly to bake the delicious cakes.

On Monday, we launched the theme of ‘Aspirations’ for this year’s Black History Month.  Over the next few weeks, each year group will be studying the achievements of significant black figures in the field of science and medicine.  The pupils will be conducting historical enquiry to learn about the chosen individual; write a poem inspired by their life story; and reflect on their own aspirations as well as create a pathway on how to achieve their goals.  Later on in the year, we will also be looking into the history of Chalkhill and the changes that have taken place over the years.  If you have any resources, or would like to share your personal experiences about living in Chalkhill, please email the school.

With the colder and rainier weather, I would like to remind you that pupils will be expected to come to school wearing appropriate footwear (particularly if they want to use the climbing frames) and a waterproof jacket with a hood.  Pupils will be taken to the assigned gates to be picked up as usual at the end of the day.
