The new national curriculum for computing has been developed to equip young people with to use computational thinking and creativity to understand and become digitally literate – able to use, and express themselves and develop their ideas at a level suitable for the future workplace.
The programming element of the curriculum involves the use of programs such as Kodable, Scratch, Espresso Coding and and hardware such as Beebots and Lego Wedo.
Pupils in every year group learn about the importance of e-safety. In addition, we have workshops and assemblies to develop pupils’ skills, self-confidence and safety awareness when using social networking sites.
Technology is integrated throughout the curriculum. Every classroom is equipped with an interactive whiteboard, a networked computer, a printer and a scanner. We also have two banks of iPads, two banks of networked laptops.We have adapted the 'Switched -ON' programme of study to teach computing.
